Homemade Oven Baked Fries

Delicious and crispy baked fries. Easy 3 ingredient recipe that the whole family will love. Better grab some quick because they won't last long!

Equipment

  • 1 Mandolin slicer optional
  • 2 Baking sheet
  • 1 Cutting board and knife optional

Ingredients

  • 4 potatoes
  • 2 tbsp lard or coconut oil melted on the stove first
  • 1 tsp salt to taste

Instructions

  • Wash and slice potatoes. Peeling is optional if desired.
  • Soak sliced potatoes in cold water for 30 minutes
  • Preheat oven to 475 degrees
  • Dry potatoes and place on baking sheet
  • In a small pot, melt oil on stove
  • Pour melted oil and salt over the fries. Use a spatula to stir and combine the ingredients evenly
  • Bake the fries in the oven for 35-40 minutes
  • Once fries have achieved desired crispiness remove, allow a few minutes to cool and enjoy!

Notes

Typically a rule of thumb for potatoes is one per person but these are so good you might want to do more than that! 
If you do not have a mandolin you can cut the potatoes to size with a knife and cutting board. This will work just as well.
If the fries are not as crispy as you'd like after baking, set them to broil for about 5 minutes. This will crisp them right up!  
The oil and salt measurements can be adjusted to your desired taste.
Lard and coconut oil will produce crispier fries. However, you can also use butter or avocado oil. I don't recommend olive oil because of the high heat temps in the oven. If you like the taste of olive oil it can be added after the fries have been removed from the oven.
